Muddy Waters Privacy Policy

Muddy Waters is designed to help watercolour artists mix colours using real pigment behaviour. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses, how it is handled, and what choices you have.
1. Summary
Muddy Waters does not require you to create an account.
Images used for colour capture are processed on your device. They are not uploaded by the app and are not stored by the app after use.
If you choose to contact support through the support form, any information you provide in that form will be used only to respond to your request and improve the app.
Do not enter any private information in the form that you do not wish to share. This includes taking care that images uploaded to not accidentaly contain private information.
2. Information the app uses
Camera
If you allow camera access, Muddy Waters uses the camera to capture reference photos so colours can be targeted for paint-mixing suggestions and to scan paint-tube barcodes for quick and easy addition to your personal palette.
Photos selected by you
If you choose an image from your photo library, Muddy Waters reads that image so you can sample colours from it. These images are processed on your device and are not uploaded by the app.
Palette and app data
Information such as your saved palette, favourites, and app settings may be stored on your device so the app can function properly.
There is an option on the settings page to erase this data at any time.
3. What Muddy Waters does not do
- It does not require an account to use the core app.
- It does not upload your photos for colour matching.
- It does not sell your personal information.
- It does not use your images for advertising.
- It does not connect usage data to any form of personal or device identifier.
4. Support requests
If you submit a support request through the Muddy Waters support form, you may provide information such as your device type, app version, and a description of the issue. You may also choose to provide contact details if you would like a response.
Support information is used only for customer support, troubleshooting, and improving the app.
5. Third-party services
Muddy Waters may rely on platform or service providers needed to operate the app, such as Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, Neon, or other essential service providers. These services may process limited technical information as part of delivering the app or handling purchases.
Muddy Waters collects pseudonymous usage analytics to help improve pigment coverage, favourites, search quality and app reliability. This may include:
Buttons clicked, paints selected in the palette and shopping list, barcode numbers scanned, new paint requests (including the information your provide to help us identify the paint and the picture of the paint tube you take.
6. Data retention
Data stored on your device remains under your control unless you delete the app or clear its data. Support requests are retained only for as long as needed to respond to the request, maintain support records, or improve the app. No images are retained in the app long term.
7. Your choices
- You can choose whether to grant camera access.
- You can choose whether to grant photo library access.
- You can stop using these features at any time by changing your device permissions.
- You can erase all your paint data at any time.
- You can uninstall the app at any time.
8. Children’s privacy
Muddy Waters is not directed to children under the age of 13, and the app is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
